Washington State Climate Advisory Team (CAT)

Governor Gregoire created a Climate Advisory Team (CAT), made up of representatives from local governments, utilities, industry and environmental groups and chaired jointly by the Washington State Departments of Ecology and Community, Trade and Economic Development. This team will provide guidance through a series of recommended actions that the state could take to meet the State's reduction targets. A separate but concurrent process to develop guidance for how the state can adapt to climate change impacts is also underway, under the leadership of the Washington State Department of Ecology and the UW Climate Impacts Group. The goal is to have a preliminary list of recommendations completed by the end of the year, so that some can be plugged into the 2008 state legislative session. The final recommendations are due to the Governor next February.

The public is invited to attend CAT meetings in person, listen to working group meetings, and submit comments via the website. Information on how the public can join working group calls is posted on the meeting agenda for each group.
