City Light Twist & Save
Compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulb performance has dramatically improved in the last few years. Seattle City Light hopes to encourage customers who have been unhappy with CFLs in the past to give these new ones a try. Based on recent survey work by City Light, there are still a significant number of customers who have not yet tried these products, and by bringing prices down we hope to make it easy for them to try CFLs. CFLs use less than 1/3 the energy of regular incandescent bulbs, and last 10 times longer.
The Twist & Save program provides reduced prices on ENERGY STAR CFLs at participating retail stores in Seattle City Light’s service territory. Seattle City Light currently has discounted CFLs available at Bartell Drugs, Home Depot, Lowes, Costco and Fred Meyer, and is recruiting a number of other retailers to participate. Typical price points for Twist & Save products are: single bulbs for 99 cents, 4-packs for $3.69 and 10-packs for $4.99. Any one can take advantage of these specially price CFLs. There are no coupons needed.

Through Twist & Save, City Light hopes to sell 500,000 CFLs per year, saving over 16 million kWh annually, as much electricity as is used by 1,800 Seattle residences in a year.
